Need Clarity and Focus? Maybe You Need a Life Coach
Posted by: | CommentsIs Your Life off Track?
Some people just don’t have anyone to listen to what they have to say. And even those that do sometimes they find that they are unable to express what they really want with the people that they know and love. So many individuals have a lot of thoughts going on in their minds that they are just dying to get out. They want someone to listen to what they want to say without judging them. They want someone that may be able to give them some objective feedback or insights. It is freeing to be able to get it all out, it somehow makes it easier to disentangle your thoughts and ideas and actually make some sense of them.
We all want to be heard! We all want to be able to express ourselves without feeling guilty. Maybe you want to make some major changes in your life, or sometimes they are just small changes. But you know that these changes could affect others close to you which make it more difficult to make decisions. It can be difficult to talk to those that have an investment in you and your life. It can be challenging t have them be objective? When you desperately want to make changes and don’t think you can; it leaves many individuals feeling unfulfilled and unhappy. This often leads to feeling stifled and even resentment toward others close to them. They just don’t feel that they can allow themselves to change.
People get coaching for all sorts of reasons. Sometimes they have a decision to make and can’t decide what to do. Others find they are confused or unmotivated. Some have career issues, family issues, they are stressed out, feel guilty, there are so many issues that we are dealing with every day. Of course we need to have a sounding board at times and someone that will support and encourage us while we are making the changes we need to make. That’s where a coach comes in. They should have no agenda and can remain unbiased and objective.
If you are interested in coaching sessions there are a few choices available. Those living in the Vancouver area may be able to arrange face to face sessions if preferred, depending on availability. Coaching sessions can be done by phone or Skype.
It is highly recommended that you have coaching sessions for a minimum of 3 months but not mandatory. Committing to taking action and keeping going once you’ve made this decision can take a little while to see the results that you want. Coaching is a process that works best by taking manageable steps that lead you to your desired result. Some clients will opt for a month and it’s enough to get them started, others find that they get better results with ongoing support and encouragement.
One month of coaching will consist of 4 sessions. The first session is approximately 45-60 minutes. This session will be to explore possibilities and create the foundation for the action that you will take. This is followed by one phone/Skype session a week for the next 3 weeks. These sessions are for approx 30 minutes.

Make the Time to Change Your Life

We all have our ideas of what‘s most important to us and yet many of us are big procrastinators we think and talk about what we want and one day we plan on having it or doing it. So what is it that keeps getting in the way?
For one thing there are always urgent things that seem to bombard us from all directions. There are so many things that need taking care of right away. Between all the phone calls and the emails to read and answer, plus people are contacting us on twitter, and facebook etc. This is besides dealing with our other everyday chores. Oh well, there’s always tomorrow so maybe we’ll set some time aside to work on our goals and dreams some other time.
A lot of the things that happen in our everyday lives are just a distraction. While we are so busy being busy how can we really get down to the business of taking care of what’s really important? I say what’s important because if we are really honest how many of the things that we spend considerable time on are truly important. More important than your goals and dreams and more important than the things you keep promising yourself but never get around to.
Most of us do it. I have seen it happen with coaching clients. Even when some people start the process of focusing on themselves, on their values and goals so many still get pulled back into the old habits by what others want them to do or don’t want them to do. Often they begin to make good progress, they have finally figured out what it is they actually want, they even start getting really excited about it. So why do they pull back? For some they begin to see that it could be possible to attain their goals and dreams. They are actually afraid that they may get what they say they want and it scares them.
Often women who are wives and mothers of older children want help to make changes in their life. A number of these women also have husbands that spend a lot of time away from home; some times for weeks. They are at home alone because their kids are away at university, or just out living their own lives with their friends. These mothers are bored and they wonder what about me, my life, my needs and wants? They feel that their role is not as important as it once was. They are often feeling alone watching their own lives drifting by without a purpose and they want to do something with their life.
Some will even start the process toward the change they say they want. They will discover what’s important and that they actually do have interests that they want to Pursue. They will start to take action steps on finding out what they need to learn and where to go to get this skill. What the cost will be, and how much time they need to invest to make this goal happen.
But as soon as their spouse comes back into town and wants them to do something else or the kids have to have the car or whatever their specific need is at that time their own goals and dreams get put back on the shelf. Do this often enough and you will eventually feel; what’s the point, it’s never going to happen.
No matter where we live, how old we are, what our financial situation is we all get so much time to spend every day, 24 hours to be precise. Some do great things with their allotted time and others just squander it.
If you are really serious about meeting your goals and dreams you need to prioritize your values and plan use your time wisely. Give yourself the gift of following through on what you truly want.
Get a head start by having a coach support you and help you start taking the steps toward your improved life.
